Includes a Christmas card from Ceri and Frances Richards to Colin Anderson featuring a costume design by Ceri Richards for Britten's Noye's Fludde. The design for male and female heron has been made into the card on the front of which is written 'Best wishes for Christmas and 1961, love from Frances and Ceri'. The design is signed by Ceri Rcihards and dated 1958.
Britten and Anderson had mutual friends in John and Myfanwy Piper, Frances and Ceri Richards, and Prince Ludwig and Princess Margaret of Hesse and the Rhine – Peg and Lu – referred to as ‘Lupeg’ in Anderson’s letters. The Princess of Hesse was a cousin of Colin Anderson's.
