Also includes a page of lyrics with alterations and an undated letter from Berkeley, concerning a correction in the work, with the music manuscript correction. Originally in an envelope marked by Imogen Holst 'MSS sent to me (To be dealt with)'.

This motet for tenor solo and chorus is a setting of a hymn for Good Friday. It was written at Peter Pears's request and dedicated to Imogen Holst. It was performed on 24 Jun 1955 at the Aldeburgh Festival by the Purcell Singers with Peter Pears as soloist and conducted by Imogen Holst.
