Letter from Gustav Holst to Marie Adami (later Marie Monsarrat).
Holst thanks Adami for her hospitality when he was in Liverpool. He writes 'whereas I came rather inclined not to lecture in the autumn I left most strongly inclined to do so. Will you please accept this copy of my Hymn of Jesus I send to you because , as far as I can see, it is my best work so far'.
With the letter is the copy of the score of The Hymn of Jesus referred to signed 'Mrs Adami from Gustav Holst Mar 1925'.
Marie Adami was married to George Adami, Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool University.
