Photographs from a production of The Rape of Lucretia

Basil Coleman was the producer of Britten's opera performed by students of the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies. The opera workshop culminated in 4 performances at the 1987 Aldeburgh Festival on 12th, 14th, 19th and 20th June with 2 different casts. These photographs show performers from both casts. The Male Chorus was performed by Salvatore Champagne and Michael Powell; the Female Chorus by Hope Hudson and Adrianne Pieczonka; Collatinus by Alan Ewing and Brian Matthews; Junius by Andrew Greenan and James Ottaway; Prince Tarquinius by Joseph Corbett and Simon Keenlyside; Lucretia by Anne McWatt and Barbara Rearick; Bianca by Sandra Porter and Norma Ritchie and Lucia by Mary Aston and Meinir Williams. There is also a photograph of Coleman chatting to Nancy Evans and Reginald Goodall at a rehearsal in the Maltings Concert Hall.
