DescriptionBasil Coleman was the producer of this production performed by students from the Britten- Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies. Music by Benjamin Britten, libretto by Myfanwy Piper, after the story by Henry James. The opera workshop ran from 23 May culminating in 2 performances at the 1983 Aldeburgh Festival on 11th and 17th June with 2 different casts. These colour photos were taken on stage at Snape Maltings Concert Hall during the performance on 17 Jun 1983. The cast were Helen Charnock as The Governess, Adam Ashton as Miles, Mary Seers as Flora, Marion Olsen as Mrs. Grose, Stanley Warren as Quint and The Prologue, and Marcia Swanston as Miss Jessel.
