Manuscript letter to Bardgett concerning a performance of Spring Symphony on 6 Oct 1950 at Leeds Town Hall (Leeds Triennial Festival) which Bardgett had conducted instead of Britten who was absent due to illness. Britten had heard a broadcast of the performance and he begins the letter by congratulating Bardgett, then he gives a detailed criticism of the performance and advice on how to improve for a forthcoming Hallé performance of the work.
