DescriptionSeries of published music, some volumes of which belonged to the composer, or have been used or marked by Imogen Holst in her preparation of revised and new editions for publication; others are marked for performances or recordings. Annotations range from comments, corrections and cuts, to bar numbers, and conducting marks, to large scale editing, alterations of scoring, and rescoring for particular ocassions. Also included are works published after Gustav Holst's death, revised, edited and arranged by Imogen Holst and Colin Matthews, and also works published after Imogen Holst's death. There are some interim materials, including queries to scores and revised scores, proof copies and dyeline copies. Also included are arrangements of Gustav Holst works by others, and scores and parts for unpublished works produced by the Holst Foundation for performance and recording. Some of the works are privately printed.

One copy of each edition of each work published has been archived, except where there are annotations present in which case all annotated copies have been retained. These are in the main full scores and vocal scores and not parts.

ArrangementWhere the works are listed, this series has been arranged according to H numbers and App numbers in Imogen Holst's 'A Thematic Catalogue of Gustav Holst's Music', apart from Sita, H89, which can be found in HOL/1/2/152.

Finding AidsThere is a list of those copies which belonged to, or were used by, Gustav Holst or Imogen Holst. This list indicates which were Gustav Holst's and which Imogen Holst's copies as well as the type and extent of annotations and markings. However, this list does not cover the full range of the series, and has some mistakes. The list is ordered by H number according to Imogen Holst's 'A Thematic Catalogue of Gustav Holst's Music' and can be found under HOL/1/2/153.
