Programme for a Fourth Season Boosey and Hawkes Concerts Concert-Introduction to Peter Grimes given by Tyrone Guthrie (director of the Sadler's Wells opera) and Eric Crozier (producer of Peter Grimes) at the Wigmore Hall in London. Musical illustrations were also given by the cast, including Pears (Peter Grimes), Joan Cross (Ellen Orford), Edith Coates (Auntie), and Owen Brannigan (Swallow). Britten played the piano, and the programme contains a brief synopsis and history of the opera, and short biographies of George Crabbe (poet) and Britten (composer). There are also advertisements for the forthcoming performance of Britten Peter Grimes on June 7th 1945, the libretto (with a cover design by Kenneth Green), and a book of essays on the work by Britten, E.M. Forster, Montagu Slater and Edward Sackville-West, with stage and costume designs by Kenneth Green.
