Programme for two concerts of Purcell Music for the 250th Anniversary of the Death of Henry Purcell at the Wigmore Hall in London. In the first concert, works by Purcell and Britten were performed, including the premiere of Britten String Quartet No. 2 [and The Golden Sonata]. The second concert consisted of works by Purcell and Britten, and included the premiere of Britten The Holy Sonnets of John Donne. Soloists for both concerts included Pears (tenor), Britten (piano), Owen Brannigan (bass) and Margaret Ritchie (soprano), and the performances were conducted by Michael Tippet. There is also a separate insert with short articles about Purcell by Britten and Tippett (4 copies). Proceeds to the India Relief Committee.
