Flyer for a concert organised by, and in aid of,, the Suffolk Rural Music School at the Jubilee Hall in Aldeburgh. Works by Purcell and Britten were performed by Joan Cross (soprano), Pears (tenor) and Britten (piano), and the programme includes a synopsis of Britten Peter Grimes.
This was one of three concerts given by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears in 1946 in aid of the School. The Suffolk School was formed under the auspices of the Rural Music Schools Association in Sep 1945 with only one teacher, Margaret Clarke, and a remit to teach instrumental music, principally the violin, to small classes of children and adults in Ipswich and the surrounding villages.
