Programme for an English Opera Group (in association with the British Council) performance of Britten The Rape of Lucretia and Albert Herring at Luzern Stadttheater in Lucerne, Switzerland. Britten The Rape of Lucretia was performed on August 12 and 14, and in the first performance Pears played the Male Chorus and Joan Cross the Female Chorus, and in the second performance Richard Lewis played the Male Chorus and Emelie Hooke the Female Chorus. Britten Albert Herring was performed on August 15 and 18, and soloists included Joan Cross (Lady Billows) and Pears (Albert Herring). The programme contains an outline of the aims of the English Opera Company and the British Council, a synopsis of Britten The Rape of Lucretia and Albert Herring, and a list of members of the English Opera Group and the English Opera Group Chamber Orchestra. The third copy of the programme is missing the middle four pages.
