Pears played Captain Macheath, and the programme contains a synopsis and history of the opera, a short entry by Britten describing his arrangement, a description of the production by Tyrone Guthrie (producer), a list of members of the English Opera Group Chamber Orchestra and staff of the English Opera Group, a desription of the work of the Engllish Opera Group, short biographies of the leading performers, a performance photographs, and photographs of Britten and Guthrie. The programme is partly in English and partly in Dutch, and one copy contains a card stating that tonight's opera will be conducted by Britten (it is not clear which performance this refers to).
