The performances were part of the San Francisco Opera season and were on October 27th and 30th and November 4th and 9th. The production went on to the Lyric Opera of Chicago's 20th Anniversary season in 1974. This programme is referred to as a booklet and was sent out to subscribers. A grant from the Gramma Fisher Foundation of Marshalltown, Iowa was used to for the new scenery. Includes a synopsis by Montagu Slater and a commentary by Noel Goodwin.
