Leaflet giving the programme of performances for the duration of the Fifth Festival including a new version by Arthur Oldham of the opera Love in a Village. Also performed was Variations on a Hymn of Orlando Gibbons, a piece written especially for the Festival by Lennox Berkeley. A special performance was given by the Copenhagen Boys' Choir of the Royal Chapel of music including Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), A Ceremony of Carols (Britten) and also works by Buxtehude and other modern Danish composers. There were also recitals of work by Mozart, Weber, Purcell, Poulenc and Haydn and a performance of The St Matthew Passion by Peter Pears and the Renaissance Singers. Open air concerts included Nocturne for Wind Instruments in the garden of Eaton House and Madrigals on The Meare performed by the Renaissance Singers.
