Leaflet giving the programme of performances for the duration of the sixth Festival including a Choral Concert commerating The Queen's Coronation. Variations on an Elizabethan Theme [Sellinger's round] was specially written for the occasion by Berkeley, Britten, Oldham, Searle, Tippet and Walton and Festival visitors were invited to take part in an accompanying competition to match the composer to the Variation. Other Choral and Orchestral Concerts included performances of Handel's L'Allegro and Berkeley's Stabat Mater. There was a performance of the comic opera Albert Herring by The English Opera Group, a Hugo Wolf Anniversary Recital and performances by The Renaissance Singers and The Amadeus String Quartet. The Britten-Pears recital included music by composers such as Purcell, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert as well as a first performance of Priaulx Rainier's Declamation. On the 27th there was also a celebratory firework display and pageant of illuminated boats to mark the Coronation.
