Leaflet giving the programme of performances for the duration of the seventh Festival including Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, the World Premiere of Berkeley's new one-act opera A Dinner Engagement and a new version of Bickerstaffe's ballad opera Love in a Village by Arthur Oldham. In addition there were performances of chamber music by The Amadeus Quartet and The Rubbra-Gruenberg-Pleeth Trio, Choral Concerts - Schutz's St. John Passion and Bach's St. John Psssion, and an Operatic Concert including excerpts from French Operas and Peter Grimes (Britten). Other performances that year included the first public presentation in England of superimposed sound effect music:Musique Concrète and a performance of Greek Song. Outdoor events were the Brass Band Concert and the Music on the Meare, included in which was the first performance of a work for recorders written by Britten.
