Leaflet giving the programme of performances for the fifteenth Festival which began with a Festival Service and the opening of the Festival Gallery and Club by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He also attended the performance of a Choral Concert by the Choir and Orchestra of the Cambridge University Society of Music whose programme included Haydn's Imperial Mass, Holst's Ode to Death and Britten's Cantata Academica. The Royal Opera House presented performances by the English Opera Group of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Britten's Albert Herring. Other works of Britten's performed included Missa Brevis and Six Hölderlin Fragments. The BBC Third Programme presented a Thursday Invitation Concert which included the first performance of Fricker's Cantata Op. 37 and the BBC Transcription Service presented six programmes of Flemish Music devised and conducted by Imogen Holst. The Apollo Society presented a Programme of New Verse and Music devised by Irene Worth which included Dudley Moore playing the piano.
