Leaflet providing the programme of performances, exhibitions and lectures for the twenty-sixth Festival. It gives brief details of the performances for 1973 including Britten's latest opera, Death in Venice (performed by the English Opera Group), which had its world premiere here. Other first performances included Gordon Crosse's Dreamsongs for oboe, clarinet and bassoon, Le Fanu's Paysage for baritone solo (part of a concert celebrating young prizewinners of 1972), Bauld's Egg for tenor, flute, cello and vibraphone, David Bedford's When I heard the learn'd astronomer and Arnold's Flute Concerto No. 2.
There was a Composer's Choice concert with programme chosen by William Alwyn and additional recitals given by Julian Bream, the Amadeus String Quartet, the London Sinfonietta and the English Chamber Orchestra.
Other events included A View of London: a reading given by Irene Worth and Alec Guinness, a series of three late night concerts celebrating the music of Bach, a performance of Japanese classical plays by Nippon Nogaku-Dan and a Palaeontological Potter - an excursion to Covehithe and Benacre Broad with Lord and Lady Cranbrook.
