Programme leaflet providing the programme of performances, exhibitions and lectures for the Thirtieth Aldeburgh Festival. A number of Britten's works were performed during the course of the Festival. A concert solely dedicated to his works included in its programme Prelude and Fugue for 18 strings, Cantata: Phaedra, Lachrymae (orchestrated in 1976), and Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, whilst his Les Illuminations, Cantata Academica and Six Hölderlin Fragments were also performed during the Festival .
Other events included first performances of Holloway's Two Cycles and a new ballet by Jaap Flier and Harrison Birtwistle. The English Music Theatre Company presented the Jubilee production of Purcell's Fairy Queen and the Ballet Rambert performed an evening of dance. Peter Pears performed in concerts alongside the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, the Cambridge University Musical Society and the Snape Maltings Training Orchestra, in Handel's Acis and Galatea, in concerts alongside Stephen Ralls and Murray Perahia and in a programme celebrating Edward Fitzgerald. He also took part (as reader) in Kilvert's Diary and Music and in a Tribute to Sylvia Townsend Warner.
