Annotated draft short score with date and place of composition. Rehearsal marks throughout, crossings out and revision patches. On the reverse of the title page are a couple of brief sketches and on the last page of volume one (page 57r) is a separate vocal sketch, using the plainsong featured in Britten's Ceremony of Carols, (it is probably a source for Alleluia for Alec's 80th Birthday). On the back of the original brown cover for volume one are some calculations in Britten's hand which may relate to the paper requirements for the full score.
