Titled fair copy with incomplete bass line. There is no separate vocal line; the text has been written into the piano part. Britten has added an alternative ending at the bottom of the page. Britten retrospectively dated this piece 1923, but it would appear more likely to be from 1922 as the manuscript source is adjacent to a piece written in that year.
