Inside front cover of this collected vol contains an advert for 'The Musical Mirror'. The back cover contains a selection of musical examples from other publications by 'W.Paxton & Co Ltd'. Britten has retrospectively (c. 1933-4) written '1921' on the front of the manuscript book this piece is in.. However, the handwriting and compositional style suggests a later date of circa 1922.
