The draft is marked 'Grave Molto con molto Brio' at the beginning. Under the first six bars of the piece Britten has written 'FFF is as loud as possible up to bars 3,4 on line no 2'. There is also a marking of 'Allegro Molto' over the start of the second section on page 1v. This section has been crossed out.
