Includes correspondence between:
- Winston Churchill, Edward Ford and Britten in 1953, regarding Britten being selected and put forward to the Queen for Coronation Honours and the appointment as a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour. Includes a letter regarding the Queen accepting a dedication for Gloriana.
- The American Academy of Arts and Letters and National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1957, regarding Britten's honorary membership. Letters are from Allan Nevins, Louise Bogan and Felicia Geffen. Includes invitation to Cermonial for Britten's election. Britten's typescript reply shows he declined the invitation.
- An honorary degree from Trinity College London and programme for the event in 1959.
- Royal Swedish Embassy awards Britten the Commander of the Royal Order of the Pole Star, given by the King of Sweden in 1962. Letter signed by C.J. Rappe.
- Prime Minister James Callaghan, Kenneth Stowe and Sir Anthony Wagner in May 1976, regarding Britten's barony, peerage and his title as Lord Britten.
- British Council in Vienna awarding the Mozart Medal 1976-1977 posthumously. Pears is invited to attend. Letters are from Dr Eruick Werba and Dr Hans Sittner.
