DescriptionThe title of this work reflects the ahbitual misspelling by Britten of the genre. The work was published in 1970 and first performed in 1971. Britten based the first four waltzes in this collection upon a number of the waltzes in a manuscript collection called 'Ten Walztes' which he assembled in 1925. See, BBM/ten_walztes.
