A draft fair copy of the full score with date and signature. Britten has included an index of movements and list of orchestration at the front and there is a French translation of the text in red ink. The title and author of the text is provided at the start of the first page of each movement. There are occasional notes by Britten on how the music should be played and annotations marking the introduction of instruments. Rehearsal marks added throughout.
Part of the Epilogue and Funeral March (pages 52v-56r) are photocopies pasted over the original.
