Order of service for the festival opening service in 1982. In the folder there is a copy of the reading by Edward Carpenter. In the service, ‘Rejoice in the lamb’ by Christopher Smart was read, nearly 40 years after the premiere of Britten’s setting of 48 lines of the text.
