Letters from Patterson to Pears about songs he had written for him.
Handwritten reply from Pears. Pears comments on the songs received from Patterson including that much of them is pitched too high for a tenor's voice. High notes, Pears says, should be used sparingly for certain effects. Pears ends by saying that Patterson can write some songs for him if he wishes to, and if Pears likes them, he will pay for them. Pears then lists which top notes Patterson can use and how many in the songs.
