The production opened at Glyndebourne on 5th July, 1985 and received thirteen further performances there on 7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20, 24, 26, 28, 31 July and 2 and 4 August. This production probably subsequently went on tour as the background scenery differs in these photographs.
The cast was: Lady Billows, Patricia Johnson; Florence Pike, her housekeeper, Felicity Palmer; Miss Wordsworth head teacher at the School, Elizabeth Gale; Mr Gedge the Vicar, Derek Hammond-Stroud; Mr Upfold, the Mayor, Alexander Oliver; Superintendant Budd, Richard Van Allan; Sid the Butcher's assistant, Alan Opie; Albert Herring from the greengrocer's, John Graham-Hall; Nancy from the bakery, Jean Rigby; Mrs Herring, Albert's mother, Patricia Kern; the village children Emmie, Maria Bovino; Cis, Bernadette Lord and Harry, Richard Peachey.
