The production was presented as a three-performance event especially for the Taw and Torridge Festival at the Queen's Hall, Barnstaple on 14, 16 and 18 July.

The conductor was Norman Del Mar (assistant Colin Davis) and the English Opera Group Chamber Orchestra was led by Neville Mariner. Production was by Michael Langham with new stage designs by Peter Snow.
