This was a revival of the 1963 production with many changes of cast, and change of conductor. Performances were given at the Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool, on 23 and 24 (twice) September; at the Grand Theatre, Leeds, on 28, 30 September and 1 October; at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, on 3 and 8 (twice) October; at the Arts Theatre, Cambridge on 14 and 15 (twice) October and at the Opéra de Lyon on 22 and 23 October.

The conductor was Norman Del Mar, except that Richard Fisher conducted on 1, 8 and 15 October matinées. The producer was Colin Graham and designer Alix Stone. The English Chamber Orchestra was led by Emanuel Hurwitz and the repetiteur was Viola Tunnard.
