The English Opera Group revival of Death in Venice opened at Snape Maltings Concert Hall in the twenty-eighth Aldeburgh Festival, with two performances on 12 and 17 June, moving to London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden for five performances on 27 and 30 June, 3,7 and 10 July. The major roles were largely unchanged from the original production with the folowing exceptions: Nigel Douglas sang Aschenbach on 10 July; Thomas Hemsley sang The Traveller etc on all dates listed except 12 June; John York Skinner sang Apollo on 27 June. The English Chamber Orchestra was again conducted by Steuart Bedford.
