The file includes correspondence re the Group's serious financial problems resulting from mismanagement by general manager, Henry Foy, who was obliged to resign in Oct 1950.

Manuscript letter from Britten to Lawrie inviting him to chair the directors on the resignation of the former chairman Oliver Lyttelton and copy of Lawrie's reply, 13 Mar 1950.
After Lawrie's accession to chairman of the Board the nature of the correspondence changes from covering solely financial matters to dealing with other business of the board.
